CrowdBand: Interesting Research Paper

Now for something completely different….

An interesting paper from Conference on Human Computation & Crowdsourcing, titled “CrowdBand: An Automated Crowdsourcing Sound Composition System” by Mary Pietrowicz, Danish Chopra, Amin Sadeghi, Puneet Chandra, Brian P. Bailey, and Karrie Karahalios. [PDF]

Basically, they experimented with crowdsourcing music composition.  Huh! Can you do that?

The amazing thing is that it sort of worked, though there are obviously going to be things to work out.

Check out the paper to grok what they have done so far. Also, example sounds and other info is available at the project site.
