Cool Robot Hummingbird

Yet another biomimetic flying robot, from Texas A&M Advance Vertical Flight Lab: Robot Hummingbird.

We are certainly seeing a golden age in biomimetic flight. We knew all along that we should look to birds and insects, but only recently have we had powerful, lightweight computers and motors and materials to begin to really do it.

This one is really cool to watch. (Nice work. Go,  ‘fluttering aggies’.)

Critique:

They really, really missed an opportunity here: this flyer simple must be brightly colored, preferably iridescent! A little work would make this so much flashier!

The 64 million dollar question is, “can this be scaled up to carry a human?” J
