Book Review: “The Invention of Sound” by Chuck Palahniuk

The Invention of Sound by Chuck Palahniuk

It’s hard to love Palahniuk’s writing.  It’s so twisted and dark.  The events are horrible, the characters are awful.

So why do I like his stories?

The crux of this new story makes no sense at all technically or logically. And the twisted conspiracy behind the curtain is the kind of mental rabbit hole we really have quite enough of already, thank you very much.

But the situation is psychologically believable, terrifyingly believable.  Once again, he’s created something that I’ll never be able to forget.

And, of course, he had some jolly fun bashing Hollywood’s celebrity and money grabbing culture once again.  He may have built the whole story just for the scenes at the Oscars.

It’s Chuck Palahniuk, at it again.
