Book Review: “Constance Verity Destroys the Universe” by A. Lee Martinez

Constance Verity Destroys the Universe by A. Lee Martinez

This is the third and final book of the Constance Verity trilogy.

Fittingly, we learn a bit more about what makes Connie tick.  Shockingly enough, her extraordinary life isn’t a coincidence, and, even less surprising, her remarkable good fortune has a steep price waiting to be paid.

But first, stuff happens.  Connie being Connie, lots of stuff happens. Connie and her friends and allies have to face one darned thing after another.  Including weddings (you think yours was a disaster!) and a really unpleasant trip to Kansas.  (What does Martinez have against Kansas?)

And now it seems that Connie is destined to destroy the universe.  How and why are not clear, but the interdimensional APB is out, so assassins are popping in every hour or so.  And then, stuff stops happening.  That’s really worrying!

So…Connie & Co have to figure it out, and see what kind of happy ending they can come up with.

Great stuff, with the usual wacky monsters (usually misunderstood good guys), mad scientists (and a contractor who builds secret lairs and other infrastructure to spec for said mad scientists), robots, secret conspiracies, galactic warlords, weird elder gods, and a lot more weird bollocks.  Oh, and something to do with fate and entropy, too.

Don’t worry.  Connie’s on it.

While ALM seems determined that he does not want to do any more Constance Verity, the story clearly isn’t over.  So, who knows?
