Book Review: “Razzmatazz” by Christopher Moore

Razzmatazz by Christopher Moore

It’s been a while, so, yeah, I’m ready for another story from Moore.

Razzmatazz follows on from Noir (2018), Moore’s tribute to San Francisco in the 40’s.  It’s Noir, sure, but it’s Moore so there is also magic and the glorious weirdness that is the real San Francisco.  As always, Moore is in love with the multicultural, diverse city, filled with people from everywhere, living in lots of ways, all more or less getting along.

Sammy and friends are called to solve a murder and also to retrieve a dragon statue stolen in 1906. (Note that none of them are PIs, nor in any way trained to investigate anything–what could possibly go wrong?.)  Tilly and her friends are called upon to help Scooter (see Noir) with his own project. The vice squad is getting on everybody’s case.

In short, danger and romance flourishes in many different ways.

It’s crazy, but it works.  It’s San Francisco.

I buy and read everything I can from Christopher Moore.  You should, too.  Nuff said.
