Book Review: “The Maltese Iguana” by Tim Dorsey

The Maltese Iguana by Tim Dorsey

It’s February, it’s time for the next installment of Serge and Colman!

Anyone who know Serge realizes that he’s not going to deal with quarantine very well. His whole MO is movement, constant movement.

He barely made it through the pandemic holed up in his “retirement” condo in the Florida Keys, and now he’s ready to burst out.  His first project is a series of eclectic tours of the keys for his increasingly baked friends in the condo complex.

Meanwhile, Florida is being Florida, so all kinds of crazy stuff is going on, including media frenzies about a heroic guy in a rabbit suit and multiple simultaneous CIA plots.  Even the CIA has no idea what the CIA is up to.

Eventually, a low budget “military contractor” company decides to “go kinetic”. But they weren’t counting on Serge, whose middle name could be “Kinetic”.  This leads to a very “kinetic”, literal Hollywood ending.

Lots of local color, lots of Florida goofiness (that Dorsey is not making up), and some entertaining wish fulfillment from a retired newspaper reporter.

So…the usual. : – )

Oh, and there is some fun when Serge turns on both Siri and Alexa in the living room of their quarantine apartment…. “Whe started it!”, “No. She did!”, etc.
